SONG NOTES ON THE LASTCHANE EP

Let Me Live
This is a song about someone in your life not being supportive of whatever it is you want to do. For me this song stemmed out of an argument I had with my father. I wouldn’t say that this song is 100% about him because I know he supports me in whatever I do, but at some point, some of these feelings were there. This is just a song about letting the person know that you have to live your own life and hope they trust in you to make the right decisions. I hope this is a song that many people can relate to and apply to many different situations.

The Distance
This is a song I wrote after I went to see Jason Mraz in concert. He had mentioned something about his best friend before playing a song. After the show I got home and picked up the guitar, thought about the show which made me think of my best friend Andy in California. I was thinking about him and a situation he had gone through with his ex-girlfriend. They were doing the long distance thing, he was in LA and she was 3 hours north. I guess she couldn’t take it anymore so they split up. I was surprised and saddened because I knew he really cared for her and I thought they were going to get married one day. So I tried imagining what he was thinking or going through and out came the Distance. It was one of those songs that just comes out so easy and I wrote it in about 20min. I don’t know if this is how Andy felt, but it is my take on the event and what I might have felt had I gone through the same thing.

Here I Am
This is a song that is not about one person in particular but an idea of a person. It’s the idea of falling for someone and not getting the same shared feelings in return. You both don’t want the same things and while you get hurt in the process you let it happen anyway because you hope there may be a chance it will all work out.

SONG NOTES ON THE BLUEPRINT

Not Tuesday
This song is basically a true story. It is a song about the events that take place when you find someone you connect with and begin taking an interest in. It’s the beginning stages of the relationship, but it’s from the point of view of someone who is falling hard for the other person.

Only for You
This is the natural progression from Not Tuesday. You might even be able to call it, "Not Tuesday Part 2". Now you have advanced in the relationship and are in love and suddenly you begin planning out the rest of your lives together without either of you being aware.

Once Again
I wrote this song after watching MTV’s TRUE LIFE show. The episode I saw was TRUE LIFE: I AM ADOPTED. It caught my attention because I myself am adopted. I know nothing of my birth parents and so I have always felt like a part of me was missing. I didn’t know who I was. I always thought that my birth parents didn’t care about giving me up, but after watching this program and seeing how much this mother cared for her baby she was giving away, it changed my mind. After watching the show I sat down and wrote this song and it made me feel a lot better.

1000 Miles
I wrote this song after being on the road for a little bit. It is about the trials of life on the road and missing someone or something you really care about back at home, whether it be a girlfriend, parents, dog, the bar you always go to with your friends on Tuesdays. Whatever it may be, you want it but can’t have it right now.

Daylight
This is the typical break up song. It is about being in love with someone and having them basically, rip your heart out. They fail to see how amazing you are and they want you to be someone your not, when you are perfectly fine the way you are. While things may work out for the best it still hurts in the beginning.
