the BIOGRAPHY

... THE STORY SO FAR ...

Singer/songwriter Jesse Young is not just another guy with a guitar. Take a listen to his CD, “The Last Chance EP” and you’ll agree; his songs are engaging, catchy, and easy relatable. Jesse draws his songs from real life experiences everyone has gone through. “The Last Chance EP” is produced by up and coming producer Dan Hannon, former front man of the band King Konga. Dan Hannon produced CD’s for Claire Bradley, Pete Schmidt and Elevation.

While any band or artist can make a good album, it takes a true talent to perform on stage and this is where Young shines. With his charming attitude, his ability to make people laugh, and performing his songs with such emotion, Jesse captivates his audiences always.
“Listening to Jesse Young is candy for the ears, not to mention that seeing him is candy for the eyes” writes Kerry Sharp in an article for the University paper, after seeing Young perform at Grand Valley State University.

In the 8 years that Young has been playing music, he has been up and down Michigan, Florida, the East Coast and the Midwest. He has performed at an Al Gore Presidential Rally in 2000 with Bon Jovi and has warmed up audiences for Jason Mraz, Sister Hazel, Edwin McCain, Ari Hest and O.A.R., among others.

Young is a talent yet discovered. His music is easy and fun to listen to; his live shows are energetic and entertaining. “I love performing more than anything in the world. The ability to go out on a stage, put out emotions and feelings that you went through, and have people in the audience connect with you, even if it’s just one person, is something that I hope I can continue to do for a long time.”
Recently Young beat out more than 40 bands to win the South Florida Band Challenge. He was the only solo acoustic performer in the event.

Q & A Sessions with Jesse

DECEMBER 2006

Which tunes do you have jammin on your iPod right now?
Fort Minor - The Rising Tied, Jamie Cullum - Catching Tales, Jack's Mannequin - Everything in Transit, Imogen Heap - Speak for Yourself

Say you get home from hard day of rocking, jonsing to watch a dvd, what do you put on?
Family Guy, Friends, Usual Suspects, The Godfather, Office Space, Wedding Crashers.

As a guitarist, you have more than one guitar in your collection, which do you use onstage?
I play a Chet Atkins SST acoustic electric. Otherwise know as "my baby". One of my prized possesions.

How long have you been writing songs?
Since my senior year of high school, so about 8 years.

Which was your first?
It was called "She's the One". It can be found on my old band UNDER CONSTRUCTIONS cd's "Short Street" and "All Acess Live". But these cd are very hard to find as I have hidden them all from the world.

Many song writers have their own ways in beginging to write a song, some begin traditionally with pen and paper, others not so; where do you start?
Songwriting for me usually starts with the guitar. I come up with some chords or a riff I like. Then I start singing over the top of that, nothing concrete, usually just a bunch of nosense words, but that helps me find a melody. Once I find that then I sit down and write the lyrics. This is were I struggle. It takes me a long time to write lyrics. After the song is finished I know I have a good song if I can't stop playing it. If I pick up the guitar every 5 min, then I know I wrote a good song. A lot of songs I write never make it to the stage cause I don't get that feeling after they are done.

Which bands have you played with in the past?
A lot. But to name a few, Jason Mraz, O.A.R., Sister Hazel, Edwin McCain. Dishwalla. More are posted on my links page which you should go to and visit their sites.

We all know you have a dream gig, what it be?
Playing in front of any number of people from 10- 10,000 as long as they were there to listen to my music. I like playing in front of crowds of people that love music. I'd rather play for 25 people who really cared about what I was doing on stage then 1000, who were not really interested.
